Things I’d Like to Know

1. How can atheists believe something about that in which they have no belief?

2. Why do agnostics claim to know about that which they claim can not be known?

3. After more than a hundred years of searching for it, why is the the animal linking apes to men still referred to as missing?

4. Why is being a peeping tom considered degenerate but watching a movie (or TV show) with “adult” content considered entertainment?

5. If “adult” movies are intended for viewing by mature audiences only, why aren’t the theaters empty?

6. Why do both postmodernists and fundamentalists have the same opinion about which direction is up?

  1. 1. How can atheists believe something about that in which they have no belief?

    I can’t speak for atheists.

    2. Why do agnostics claim to know about that which they claim can not be known?

Agnostics are annoying, I agree. Especially the militant ones.

    3. After more than a hundred years of searching for it, why is the the animal linking apes to men still referred to as ‘missing‘?

Because as every transitional fossil is found it creates more “missing links.” Imagine no transitions between man and ape are known. Now pretend that a fossil exactly half-way between man and ape is found. Now there’s a situation where the quarter-man-quarter-ape fossil and three-fourths-man-one-fourth-ape is still out there. And when each further find is made the same thing happens – there are more gaps that can be filled in. So basically every new find raises more questions than it answers, even if the find is very significant and informative.

Also, you need to realize that news reports of “missing links” are usually written by non-specialists with no training in evolutionary biology. As such, they are sensationalized and often inaccurate. If you hear a news article about the discovery of a “missing link” that “turns our understanding of evolution on its head,” then its almost certainly complete crap. The media exaggerates even minor discoveries to attract attention.

    4. Why is being a peeping tom considered degenerate but watching a movie (or TV show) with “adult” content considered entertainment?

Because in the former you’re violating the privacy of others and in one your watching images voluntarily recorded and distributed. That should have been obvious.

    5. If “adult” movies are intended for viewing by mature audiences only, why aren’t the theaters empty?

    Completely rhetorical question. I pass.

    6. Why do both postmodernists and fundamentalists have the same opinion about which direction is up?

    No clue.

Hi abyssalleviathin. Thanks for visiting and for your comments. In your reply about the missing link you stated “Because as every transitional fossil is found…”. Are you aware that no transitional fossil has ever been found for any species? You did indicate correctly that there is a need to “imagine”. That’s all the evolution theory-tale is, imagination.

You may have misunderstood the question about the peeping tom – the question wasn’t about privacy but about behavior. There is an exact equivalency of action on part of the viewer in both situations.

  3. Are you aware that no transitional fossil has ever been found for any species?

    Do you really believe that?

Hi Abyssaleviathin, feel free to cite your evidence.
